About Me
Hey there! Writing about myself felt like trying to capture a breeze in a bottle—tricky, right? But here goes my best shot!
I'm a spirited older woman with a wandering soul, a strong belief in taking charge of our choices, and a knack for weathering any storm life throws my way. Sure, we all want to weather life's challenges, but I've spent my time, energy, and resources making sure I'm as ready as I can be.
My journey started on ranches, where I learned the essentials of survival—caring for animals, preserving food, and finding creative solutions to everyday puzzles. Growing up there instilled a sense of resilience and a love for adventure. Plus, I've traveled far and wide, mostly to my beloved South and Central America, which has sharpened my awareness and safety skills as a solo woman explorer.
This blog is my way of sharing all the nifty things I've learned and to keep evolving in our journey toward mastering life’s little (and big) survival challenges. I'd love to hear from you—share what you're curious about or swap your own survival gems with our community!
After retiring, I embraced the van life, a decision ignited by the Tubbs wildfire's impact in Santa Rosa, California. Leaving behind sky-high rents and roommate woes, I hit the road and never looked back. Living out of my van turned into a blissful journey, marrying self-sufficiency with endless exploration.
I'm here to encourage others, especially fellow older adventurers, to dive headfirst into travel and embrace the thrill it brings. Life's too short to watch others on screen having all the fun—I choose to be the star of my show!
Important Note - I value all people and perspectives, so please be kind to the author (me) and each other. There's far too little kindness in the world these days. So, if you don’t like what I do or say here, just move on. We will both be better for it.
